We Are Estevan Alliance

Our Story

Estevan Alliance Church has a rich history and heritage. From its beginnings in 1960 in the basement
of the home of Jack and Daphne Mitchell, to the present permanent location, we have had 16 Lead
Pastors, 2 Interim/Transitional Pastors and 10 support pastoral staff in our 60+ year history.
God has been faithful through the many challenges the congregation has faced. We are based in a
transient community where people move in and out frequently. We have seen frequent changes to
pastoral leadership and have experienced long stretches of time with no pastor. We have faced
financial constraints and other challenges and we have experienced a pandemic!

We have seen our congregation walk by faith and we have seen God’s hand provide in miraculous
ways. Through the ever-changing leadership styles and vision statements the core purpose of the
church has remained the same. Though the words may change the vision is the same to fulfil the
Great Commission through prayer, worship, discipleship, evangelism, fellowship and service as did the
early church in Acts 2 and as started by our founding Pastor. Missions and the Deeper Life also
continue to be core values.

Over the years we have had a great emphasis on children’s ministry and we have also had a large
emphasis on missions, short term missions trips, seamless link agreements with international workers
and support for parachurch organizations through finances and work projects. We have also been a
sending church with several congregants going on to full time ministry or church planting.
Once again, we find ourselves in a transition as we seek a new Lead Pastor. As Larry Hurst (former
interim pastor) wrote in his annual report of 2018, “Transition anticipates change. And change is
never easy….Transition calls us to trust; to trust God, to trust our leaders. Transition calls us to be
faithful, because God is faithful. Transition means prayer.”

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

I Cor. 15:58
